# Rust SDK

> Choose between Monaco's REST and gRPC Rust clients

Monaco ships two official Rust clients on [crates.io](https://crates.io): one generated from the REST OpenAPI spec and one generated from the gRPC protobuf module. Choose based on how your backend talks to Monaco.

## Choose a Rust Client

| Client | Crate | Transport | Use when |
| - | - | - | - |
| REST SDK | [`monaco-sdk`](https://crates.io/crates/monaco-sdk) | HTTP/JSON | You want broad compatibility, simple request/response calls, and OpenAPI-generated types. |
| gRPC SDK | [`monaco-grpc-sdk`](https://crates.io/crates/monaco-grpc-sdk) | gRPC over HTTP/2 | You want protobuf-native clients, service stubs, and the lowest-latency backend integration path. |

Authenticated trading, account, deposit, and withdrawal workflows require a Monaco client ID and a wallet-authorized session key. Public market data can be read without authentication.
